I never thought that the school bus would be one of the things that would bring a smile to my sons face. I think I was the one who was scared of taking that first step into letting my son be like everyone else. I always thought that my son would never ride the bus because he had his mother to take him and bring him everywhere. The first time I told him that we were going to start riding the school bus there was a small grin on his face. I didn't know if to smile back or cry because I was not allowing him to do these things, because I was scared for him. Now I feel that I need to let him know about everything he can do, because to me he is as normal as everyone else, and I have no right to take that away from him. I know that I am doing something good for him because he will grow up to be independent and not afraid to try something new.
